About

Laura E. DeFreitas, APRN, FNP-C received her Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Modesto Junior College in 1996. While working in a level II trauma emergency department for 16 years, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Phoenix (2005) and a Masters of Science degree in Nursing Education from California State University, Stanislaus (2011). While continuing to work as an RN in the emergency department, she became a Professor of Nursing at her alma mater, MJC. Ultimately, becoming the Assistant Director of the nursing program.

In 2019, Laura moved to Texas to be closer to her sons and applied to the University of Texas, Austin post-graduate Family Nurse Practitioner certification program. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

She is a passionate and proactive nurse practitioner with almost 30 years of nursing experience. She delivers compassionate patient-centered care to clients throughout the life span focusing on current evidence-based medicine. She is a proud member of the Georgetown community. She is married to her husband Clei, a retired police detective and a mom to two grown sons. Laura enjoys travel, football, wine, puzzles, and time with her family.
